For me, this is the high bar in documentary, multimedia, immersive storytelling.
Created by The National Film Board of Canada, A Journal of Insomnia is a “web-based, collaborative exploration of what keeps us—along with a third of the developed world—up at night” (via Communication Arts Interactive Annual 20)
It took three years to create. The volume of content, the visual display of audio (stunning) combined with excellent user interaction with the journal is a true example of excellence in design.
If you are spending the wee hours up and about, add your experience to the journal. The combination of imagery and audio definitely gives you the feeling of not having enough sleep.
